About insurance cover, referrals, waiting times, online or at home, and languages. Can’t find your question? We answer a single question by e-mail free of charge.
Is a dietitian in Amsterdam or Almere covered by insurance?
Yes. Three hours of dietary advice per calendar year are covered by the basisverzekering (Dutch basic health insurance), with every insurer and at all of our locations. We bill your insurer directly. If you are 18 or older the eigen risico (your annual deductible) applies, except within integrated care (ketenzorg).
Do I need a referral letter?
No. You can sign up directly at the location of your choice. Only for integrated care (type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular risk management, COPD) does your huisarts (GP) arrange a referral; in that case your deductible is not used.
Which location is closest to me?
In Amsterdam Nieuw-West choose Slotervaart (our main location) or Ookmeer in Osdorp; in Zuidoost, the Florijn in the Bijlmer. For Almere and the surrounding area we are opening a new location in Almere Stad soon; until then you can see us online or at home. Not sure? Tell us where you live when you sign up and we will help you choose.
How soon can I get an appointment?
We get in touch within one working day of your sign-up. The intake is usually scheduled within one to two weeks, at one of our locations, at your home or online.
Do you speak English?
Yes. Our dietitians are multilingual and consultations in English are no problem, in person or online. Expats and internationals are very welcome, and the cover from Dutch basic health insurance is exactly the same.
Can I be seen online or at home?
Yes. We also work fully online: video consultations are just as personal and are covered in the same way, wherever you live in the Netherlands. For those who find it hard to leave the house, we make home visits. Let us know your preference when you sign up.
Do you work together with my GP?
Where needed we coordinate with your GP (huisarts) or specialist, for example for diabetes, malnutrition or cardiovascular disease. Within integrated care that collaboration is standard.
